Ongar Grinds

Ongar Grinds provides weekly grinds for students in 3rd and 6th year in Maths, Spanish, French and Accounting. Other subjects can be offered depending on demand.
Grinds are 60 minutes in duration and are held in a class-based environment.
We are taking bookings for September classes now:
  • LC Spanish (H) – Tuesday 7pm – 8pm (starting 12 September 2023)
  • JC Maths (H) – Saturday 10am – 11am (starting 16th September 2023)

Stephen Kelly – Maths & Accounting

Stephen has a Degree in Maths & Irish from NUI Maynooth where he graduated in 2003. Stephen went on to join Bank of Ireland for almost 17 years working in various areas in the Bank before setting up Ongar Grinds.

Stephen continued to give Maths grinds for a number of years after college and took them up again in 2018 when he formed Ongar Grinds. Stephen has been teaching s the Junior Cert Maths classes since 2018.

During his time in Banking Stephen has continued his studies and has almost completed his ACCA Accountancy Qualification and has successfully passed 13 of the 14 exams to date.

Stephen will be taking the Junior Cert Maths classes and the Leaving Cert Accountancy class.

Alina Lupu – Spanish & French

Alina graduated from Maynooth University with a B. A. in Spanish and French and a M.A in Spanish and Latin American Studies in 2012 and 2013 respectively, further on being offered a scholarship to study at Alcalà de Henares University in Madrid where she achieved a Diploma in Spanish Language and Literature.

She has a strong passion for languages and has been a Spanish and French tutor at both Junior and Leaving Cert level for several years.

Alina will be teaching out Leaving Cert and Junior Cert Spanish and French classes.

Stephen Dunning – Maths

Stephen graduated from NUI Maynooth with a BA in Mathematical Studies and completed his Master’s in Education with Hibernia.

He has spent the last 5 years teaching in Blakestown Community School and Ashbourne Community School, teaching both Leaving Cert and Junior Cert Mathematics at Higher and Ordinary Level.

Stephen has recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Special Educational Needs.

Stephen will be taking the Leaving Cert Maths Higher and Ordinary Level classes.
